Join us for a walk in the woods!

In the winter of 2008, Open Waters conducted fifty-four interviews in five diverse Maine communities to discuss the past, present, and future of Maine’s woodlands.  Choirspeak: The Maine Woods is an original performance event built from the edited transcripts of these compelling conversations.  With this project, we strive to develop state-wide, arts-based dialogue around the monumental environmental change that many of our rural communities are facing.  These workshop performances will include post-show audience/artists discussion.  Our one outdoor performance will begin with a community walk in Baxter Woods.  Please join us!

“I think of the Maine Woods as like my church.  My most - God, I’m gonna cry!  My most sacred place.”  -Karolyn, Peru

“We’re not generating any money, in these small communities.  Money needs to come in. - Matt, Millinocket
